New Beginners Course this Week.
They need your help.
Every Member can help out – Experienced Archers and New Members.
We were all beginners once.

Archery at Danesfield

Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm.

Please arrive at 6:30 p.m. to help set up and prepare for shooting.

On Saturday mornings there are sessions from 11:00
Sunday mornings, there are sessions from 8:00

Family Sessions – Wednesday at 6:00 pm
Beginners Course – Wednesday at 6:00 pm

Wednesday is also for special coaching, Beginner, and Taster sessions.

Booking is Essential.

We operate a booking system as it enables us to comply with our insurance requirements and ensures we know who is on the range.

Outdoor Shooting

  1. On arrival at the field at Danesfield School.
    • Arrive 30 before the start time to enable you to set up your boss and equipment for the shooting time.
    • All your possessions must be kept behind the equipment line 3 meters from the shooting line. This is standard shooting practice.
    • Shooting will commence once all the bows are on their stands, ready for shooting.
  2. Shooting.
    • Layout the shooting line.
    • Bosses are to be set up four yards between centres.
    • Decide who will be the field captain and work to the whistle.
      • One whistle to go to the line
      • Three whistles to collect your arrows
    • Rounds will start promptly at the allotted time.
    • After shooting your arrows, step back away from the line and wait by your equipment.
    • Scores on an official scoresheet are preferred, but you can also use an electronic scoring app.
      • Please download and print your score sheet. Download Score-sheets.
      • The archer and scorer must sign all scoresheets, paper and electronic.
    • To monitor your scores and participate in club competitions, submit your scores ASAP on the form. Submit Score
  3. Leaving the field at Danesfield School.
    • It is up to the last archer to ensure the equipment has been put away safely and wiped down.
    • It is up to the last archer to ensure that everything is cleared up (i.e., nothing is left on the field) and locked away safely.
  4. Inclement Weather and Weekend Use
    • As a special concession, the school allows us to shoot indoors at weekends if the weather is unsuitable or another group has booked the use of the field.
    • This is only available should no other group be booked to use the Gym.
    • If you set up in the School and another group turn up who has booked the use of the Gym, then you should be polite and pack up and leave as swiftly as possible.

Indoor Shooting

  1. On arrival at the gym at Danesfield School.
    • Arrive 30 minutes before the starting time to enable you to set up your boss and equipment before the shooting time.
    • The designated Field Captain/Keyholder will open up.
    • All your possessions are to be kept safely away from the shooting line. This is standard shooting practice.
    • Shooting is to commence once all the bows are on their stands, ready for shooting.
  2. Shooting.
    • The shooting line is the white court line painted on the floor at the far end of the gym.
    • The safety net is to be set up across the gym under instruction from the field captain.
    • Six bosses are to be set up across the width of the room.
    • The field captain will decide when it is safe to commence shooting using whistle commands.
      • One whistle to go to the line
      • Three whistles to collect your arrows
    • Rounds will start promptly at the allotted time.
    • After shooting your arrows, step back away from the line.
    • Scores on an official scoresheet are preferred, but you can also use an electronic scoring app.
      • Please download and print your own score sheet. Download Score-sheets.
      • All scoresheets paper and electronic to be signed by the archer and scorer.
    • To monitor your scores and take part in club competitions submit your scores ASAP on the form. Submit Score
  3. Leaving the gym at Danesfield School.
    • All archers are responsible for packing everything away safely.
    • Always leave the Gym in a clean condition.
    • The Field Captain/Keyholder is responsible for ensuring that everything is cleared up and locked away safely and the school gates are locked if nobody else is on the premises.

Shooting Times

The Tuesday and Thursday sessions are at 6:00 pm outdoors and 7:00 pm indoors.
PLEASE ARRIVE at least 30 minutes earlier to help SETUP.

The Saturday and Sunday morning sessions are more flexible in the start time.

Wednesday Sessions are at 6:00 pm and are mainly for Families, juniors and beginners.
